Witcher 3 - The Wild Hunt

That's probably not a bad idea. I know it will be well worth it, but a bit worried I might spend more time playing games than doing other things haha.

For the record I have nothing overclocked, 970 at stock, cpu is a 3570k at stock speeds. I did install the new driver before running the game first time, in fact GTAV felt like it ran much smoother with this Witcher driver, but I did notice that my idle temp for the 970 was higher after using this driver and it took alot longer to come down with extra fans in the room. I'm going to revert to the previous GTAV driver and try W3 again.

@Nodscene, you should grab the first two Witchers next time they're on sale, and blow through them on easy mode just for the story alone. By then the third game will be going on sale and you can complete the story. From the little bit I've seen of this one there's alot of references from the other games.

That is the struggle, isn't it!
You guys with the monster 980 rigs will have to update us after the next few patches. I heard one is out already.

Getting rather sick of force quitting TW3 1/3 of the times I go in to my inventory. I can be back in the game in under 15 seconds. Thankfully EVERY startup movie is skipable. Not once have I seen this in a game, and that is something I try to disable on every game I play.

You can download the latest patch through your GOG account, but the main witcher page is overloaded.

edit: and they've pretty much confirmed that Console development was/is the primary driving force for the game... :(

CD Projekt tackles The Witcher 3 downgrade issue head on • Eurogamer.net

Maybe I'm getting too old for this stuff. Might be time to hang up my desire to play a game designed for and played on PC.

I am quite enjoying GOG Galaxy, if anything but for the automatic patching.

I've seen on facebook that Witcher 3 is available on Uplay with 4 games for free (one I remember is Watch_Dogs). I'm guessing Ubisoft is trying to cash in on the big interest for the Witcher 3 and try to hook people with some of their other games. Most responses I've seen to Witcher 3 with 4 free games on Uplay are "I'd rather pay regular price elsewhere then get 4 free games on Uplay".

Good, my FPS was dropping everytime Geralt tossed his hair around in combat.

How about we talk about the gameplay rather than the graphics settings? I've got about 7 hours into it, I'm really enjoying it other than being spat on by random peasants.

My concern isn't with the graphics quality it's with the game mechanics which lead to how KB/M controls work (or don't). These controls were (IMO) obviously designed around gamepad use first and then handed to the PC team to figure out how to port those controls over to KB/M. I'd much rather see that process reversed in that controls are developed first for KB/M and then afterwards they figure out how to fit it onto a controller for consoles.

If the first thing you hear out of a PC gamer's mouth is that he's hanging up the KB/M controls in favour of a game pad, there's something wrong with that PC game.
