this is the unofficial odd thoughts, observations and random question thread

Random question, if you had an item posted on kijiji/facebook market place and someone asked to ship it, what can you do to cover your butt?

I'd think EMT would be safe and not use paypal.

Anything else?

EMT only...no PP or anything that can be called back. I've been a buyer that's asked someone to ship and to show the seller I was legit, I gave them info that proved I was real, etc. in this case, work stuff, my email, phone #'s, etc.. I'm in sales, so no risk to me. I think I even gave them a shipping label to make it as easy as possible for them too.

He did give me his phone number and seems legit. Just that I can be a little naive sometimes, I'm not getting any red flags though.
 
I think the only other thing I would add is make sure you have autodeposit enabled so there's no sending of question/answer and potential phishing emails that look like the official Interac ones but are not.

Auto deposit is on, but good idea.

It's for a minisforum ms-01, so it's a bit of money. He's fine with interact money transfer though.

I guess if I put signature required would be a good idea as well. Then he can't go to his bank to say he didn't get it

Edit: I think this is my first multi quote lol that's pretty slick. (I'm amused by small things)

Yeah, as per above, I'd treat it the same way as we do a sale on here. Payment up front prior to shipping and that payment be done through EMT.

I personally don't do auto deposit though as I like to be able to use EMT to myself for transfers between different banks/accounts.

I would also insist they pay for insurance. that way even if it requires a signature but gets lost, everyone is covered. or maybe, to make it easier for them to agree, go 50.50 on insurance or something.

This was going to be one of my conditions for him, there will be insurance for the full cost. $950... that'll be a bit pricy

I also talked to my bank, just to confirm that if auto deposit is on that they can't cancel/refund the money.
