Whats your latest purchase?

Its long enough it is resting on my pump block, not really any thicker than any other GPU of its type, but the width I had to get 180 power adapter to get it to fit with the side panel on. Side panel wouldn't fit with the wires coming out. I started with some cheap amazon adapters but the quality concerned me. Picked up a thermal grizzly wire view adapter instead.

(I think it was this one)
ohh right I didnt think of the wires sticking up hmm ok well this other case I bought is pretty wide I am also worried about stress on the PCIe slot beasue of the weight

hmm I bought a cheap case
Quick Search for that one..
"CPU cooling height up to 176mm"

Quick search for 011D
"maximum CPU cooler height clearance of 167mm"

So in theory you have an extra 9mm of clearance... you will likely need angled adapters unless you vertical mount the GPU.

Theses are what I started with but replaced

Ford Dealerships have a live of products called Omnicraft. It is nothing but non-ford parts for super common consumables such as rotors and pads. So my Nissan Frontier is running around with coated rotors and pads that I bought from my nearby Ford dealer. (They are/were priced compeditivly). That is at least Ford Canada though not sure where the parts themselves are made.

Also https://www.thewrenchmonkey.ca/ can sometimes be more competitive for Canadian retailer for online purchases, found some parts cheaper there than rock auto.
Good to know about a couple other options. I just looked on thewrenchmonkey and it is also more expensive. VS rockauto the same parts are $125 more expensive there, but I would save $65 in shipping charges. So a $60 difference on a $300order ….so 20% more expensive..

A relatively cheap portable monitor to finish off my NAS build. Didn't really need it, but assuming I end up putting the NAS into a dark corner somewhere, it'd be nice to have a local display. On a related note.... typing "slim" at the unraid terminal prompt launches a browser and gives you the graphical interface (including the option to launch the web UI of your docker containers).
good price...but why so small and with such high resolution?

if I may ask, please follow up with comments on how good / bad you found it, the pros n cons. :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with the unit, especially for my use case. Monitor goes plenty bright, and the browser text is crisp and legible. There's even an OSD menu which allows you to change tint and/or mode (movie disables all of the other colour settings, but seems to be the most pleasing to the eye).

I did not experience the issue reported in the reviews WRT the bottom of the screen being cut off, but if it were, there are horizontal/vertical adjustments in the OSD which would probably resolve the issue.

Touch screen is recognized by windows, but I didn't go so far as to calibrate it since I'm not going to be using it on windows. Touch screen does not appear to be working in unraid, but I wasn't expecting it to, and couldn't be bothered checking to see if there's a way to incorporate TS drivers into the build.

I even threw a firestick onto it and it worked fine as a 10" TV but without the volume and power controls from the firestick remote.

Only minor complaint I have is the dual purpose menu/power button. Powering on or off requires a long press.

Overall, really happy with it, especially considering the price.

I'm glad to hear you're pleased with it's performance!

I quickly Googled UNRAID's support for touch displays and it does, sorta kinda.

UNRAID can support touch monitors, but it requires some setup, says a Facebook discussion. You'll need to install a desktop environment on your UNRAID server and then connect the touch monitor to the server, explains a Facebook discussion. Once connected, you can then use a web browser on the desktop environment to access the UNRAID interface, according to a Facebook discussion.

does the screen have a battery? if it does, that's why the power requires a long press to turn on or off. if it was a simple single press, any bump would turn it on and kill the battery. I have the cheap ad entry level 15.6" Arzopa with a battery and it takes a long time to turn on / off as well. I use it as a secondary screen to the Dell G15 I bought from you and the only really annoying thing about it is WIndows recommends a different scaling percentage vs. the laptops display. so while everything is the same resolution / aspect, text / icon size, etc aren't matched. it's weird jumping between the two sometimes.

No battery AFAIK. I think it's just the dual function which necessitates the long press for power on/off. As far as unraid touch screen goes.... not really worth it IMO.

shopping

Breville 3-in-1 Combi wave microwave/airfryer/oven. Went to the bay and they had one last one on the shelfs for about half the retail price. Still expensive for a microwave/airfryer/oven. The Sanyo that came with my house is likely original and it's a pretty 'meh' microwave. Underpowered, but still works.

Did I need it? No. Do I already have separate real oven, and a breville countertop 'smart oven pro' oven/toaster/airfryer? Yes.

But I'm a man of few vices so blowing a little bit of money on kitchen stuff isn't too bad. Now with the home oven, the smart oven and this I can cook a prime rib, roast potatoes and broccoli all at the same time haha.
