NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Review Comment Thread

Didn't get a chance to look through the entire review, but what I've seen looks pretty impressive on all three criteria (performance/thermals/power consumption) that most folks are looking for. That's a pretty big gap now between AMD's best single GPU card, and this offering.

Of course the spoiler is that this is the card they should have released if they weren't rushing the initial Fermi offerings.

The number of GPU's really don't matter very much...it's really about pricepoint. The 5970 is now available for $469...NVidia has gone through two seperate launches (400 & 500 series) since the 5970 was launched and AMD still has the fastest graphics card available.

What store is that?
NewEgg.com - I live in the states.

OK ok ok. Here are my tought. I am fairly impressed with overall performance, even since the 5870 outperform it but I don't like dual GPU card. Also, temp, power use and noise have been really impressed. For the I have to say Bravo Nvidia. But now talking about price point VS performance. I think they are not on the right spot. This card should be at least 50$ less. If you only game, at this price it dosen't make his mark over the 5970. So, Great review! Great improvement on the GF 1XX Architecture. But still overpriced at lunch, but that's not surprising from Nvidia ;) Also, the lack of a display port is pretty dissapointing for me since it's not commonly used but always a nice option. That being said, Now RJ I hope you are happy to have chose the screen instead of the card XD

I would like to say a big thank you for including a thorough GPGPU-via-FAH section in your GPU reviews!

May I make a suggestion? Since your reviews almost always include power consumption data and usually include and average price tag, it would be nice to see some PPD/W and PPD/$ comparison charts. I understand this information can be surmised based on the information provided, it just would be nice to see it in a clear, easy-to-understand graphical representation.

As always - excellent review. Thanks SKY!

nice. the current draw safety thingie worries me a bit. looks to be a tad more aggressive hen it should.
