Ontario Liberal Majority

Here you go.

NDP and Liberals gained seats, Cons lost seats.

No, turnout was up from the record low 48~% in 2011 to 52%.

Yep, and again it was the PCs election to lose. The NDP p'd off their base by forcing the election, and the Libs are knee deep in corruption. I can't see any way to interpret the results other than as an abject rejection of a hard right PC policy.

Crap I'm coming back to a Liberal Majority? When I left, McGuinty was nose diving that party hard into the dirt. What the hell happened?

The people decided they would rather go broke than let the conservatives in I suppose. Most voters in Ontario must have government financed jobs. /shrug.

Now would be a good time to dismantle the equalization payment system so I can watch Ontario burn from a distance. :blarg:

Well I can see where this thread's going to go...

*Liberal Hippies ruin everything*
*You're all righty-tyrants*
*You're ignorant of history because I cite example X*
*You're the one who's ignorant, example Y*
*Someone brings up guns for no reason, sub-argument begins*
*Generalized sweeping statements with questionable validity get made*
*Someone who shall remain nameless, makes a rant that's mostly incomprehensible to both sides*
*Descent into personal slights, certain people go slightly into tinfoil hat land*
*Thread is closed and the mod's hope for humanity takes another small hit*

grabs popcorn, sits and observes....

Rofl. If you think the staff have any faith left in humanity you havent been paying attention. :P

Oh and you forgot include a good old fashioned Godwin'ing...so here goes. The lieberals are worse than Hitler. :)~

Being the son of two Ontario civil servants, (ministry of trade, travel and tourism and the ministry of corrections) I have no love for the conservative government like the one Ontario had during the "common sense revolution". We never had a lavish lifestyle even though both of my parents were essentially at the top of both their professions and both had University education. I don't know where people get off hating on civil servants, and thinking that they are lazy and just want all the "perks" that come from being one. My Mom would wake up at 4:30am to take the GO train into Toronto and get home just after 7, everyday. My Dad would wake up at 6 and be at work by 7:30 everyday. They both worked their asses off for everything they have now, and if the PC government had their way, they would have been shortchanged on EVERYTHING. Civil servants always get dragged out as political punching bags for any conservative government.

Being a Physician in Montreal now, i'm essentially a civil servant and I think it's great that the Canadian Medical Association as well as the Quebec Medical Association has my back when it comes to protecting my position as well as workplace disagreements.

**EDIT**

If the PCs really want to get serious in Ontario, the need to clean out all of the remnants of the Mike Harris government, (Harrisites) and develop a new plan the brings them close to the center right (where they've traditionally been).

Tim Hudak is unelectable, he is driving the Titanic and he's LOOKING for icebergs.

FFS, this is horrifying, I can't vote because my immigration status, but it is truly horrifying.

Start saving your CASH people in Ontario, we are about to get raped by the spend thrifties......

Heh... quoting fox news north isn't going to get you anywhere. It doesn't have to be CBC, but surely you can find something a little less biased?

Record-low turnout. Those who show up end up with greater power!

Tell me about it. I worked as a poll clerk at an apartment in Toronto yesterday. Only the residents of that apartment were allowed to vote at my polling station. Roughly 420 were eligible to vote and registered, had only 136 voters turnout. That's 32.4% turnout. SMH. People simply don't care. We were sitting there bored as hell. Thank God my colleagues were nice and friendly, making the job fun and enjoyable.

What's really sad is the people that vote but make uninformed votes. I had someone come up to us and ask "Where is Harris? I want to support Harris." We had to go explain to her what happened to Harris and everything.

Then there's others who say BS like "Oh I don't want to vote because I don't want to support anyone." Well then come, and decline your ballot. You live in an apartment and the voting site is just downstairs in the party room. How hard is it to spend 2 minutes of you life and showing that you care, but just can't support "these fools." People around the world die trying to obtain the right to vote, and here we are just taking it for granted like it's nothing.

Corruption happened. This government is going to run us to the ground. We're going to have increased taxes, less money to spend on ourselves, more scandals, and more money being wasted while the province and the GTA goes nowhere. I voted for PC because I don't like Liberals, and I don't like the Liberal MPP as I think he doesn't do anything for us in my riding. While I don't like Hudak that much and didn't agree with his job cutting plan, I wanted change. NDP is just delusional as usual.
