Whats your latest purchase?

5 pumpkin pies at Costco. Knew today was the first day they sell them. Was in line for when they opened to make sure I got some without having to stand in line for hours.

All this talk of Costco Pumpkin Pie and I had to buy one while I was in today grabbing veggies. :)

10AM and the table was almost empty, maybe 10 left. Not sure if the bakery does a daytime restock or if what you get in the morning is all there is until they bake early the next morning.

And yeah.... why Costco??? They're huge, and reasonably priced.

I saw one going by in another person's cart at Costco on Saturday. They are definitely popular!

Maybe it's because I never had pumpkin pie well until I was an adult but.... I don't think it's all that great. I love roast squashes, pumpkins or a good kabocha soup, but sweetened pumpkin just feels off.

It's not the spices either, because I love a good apple pie with cinnamon, nutmeg and even clove. Pumpkin pie, for whatever reason, doesn't do it for me.

It's not my favourite either, but I will admit I have had some homemade ones that I enjoyed.

I think an apple pie is a bit harder to mess up though? Other than perhaps having a soggy crust, but the filling itself is pretty hard to get wrong.

Whereas pumpkin pie can go different ways... like my grandma used to make one that was stringy and very under seasoned/sweetened (can't say I liked that, but maybe you might?). Compared to the store bought pumpkin pies that are a smooth puree with a fair bit of sugar and spices.

Not really a purchase since work paid for them. But I did pick them out if that counts :p.

Set of Toyo Observe G3-Ice.

If they weren't studded I'd be curious how you think they did in a couple years as I haven't tried the Toyo's myself, but I prefer the quieter studless tires.

I'll likely go back to X-Ice for my next batch. Blizzaks were great in slush when I had them, but the performance dropped really fast as they wore compared to others. I've got Nokian Hakka's on my Acura now and they're fine, but don't work as well as X-Ices from what I remember when I had them.
