I am so happy with what we're seeing from both MAD and Intel when it comes to CPU performance with the last 2 gen, the level of performance with these CPUs from these companies is just great. now we should hopefully see the price wars begin

Its a generation where CPU coolers will make a huge difference as both are running hot and boosting around heat will be important. But I really like how close they are out the door.

With my massive radiators i'm curious if I'd still see the temperatures they are seeing instead of a crappy 360 aio he used.

It absoltely needs a 3x120mm radiator. Dropping down to a 120mm rad dropped frequency by 400MHz. Yet only 100MHz on the 7950X.

I doubt it would make any difference. A 360mm radiator absolutely should be enough for a 300+ load unless the fans are running @ 500rpm. You are going to be limited by the water block at that point.

Wow, so the 7950x is approximately ~50% to 100% more efficient per watt, when power limited?

Thats WILD.
My screenshot isn't power limited. The 7950X just can't consume near as much power and is way more efficient. BUT der8auer does do some tests on what would happen if you throttled both to 90W. And then the 13900K trades blows w/ the 7950X in performance per watt .

I must be confused about the screen shot then and what its portraying?

Does it not show (at 95w according to the bottom) that the 7950x scores 31k, and the 13900k scores 20k?

Was strictly talking about the overall temperatures not boost behaviour etc as even with the 360 they both run surprisingly hot. 95-96'c + on a 360 aio is hot not matter how you look at it.

Raptor Lake reviews popping up everywhere now. I have a few major takeaway points so far (though for me I am mainly looking at the 13600k):

1. Raptor lake does seem very good. And while I personally think Raptor Lake and Zen 4 are equally good products, intel has destroyed AMD on pricing.

2. Linked to the above, AMD better have some notable price reductions quickly, or they will be falling fast.

3. I am really starting to believe that all of you who were already on AM4 and jumped to the 5800X3D (for gaming focused builds) appear to have made a solid choice. Even when it loses, it is by generally small amounts, and at notably lower power/temps.
