3D Printer / CNC discussion thread

Well... worst case is wasting $10 worth of filament + a few bucks worth of electricity. :)

It's a project for a member so I'm not really at liberty to go into too many details, but it's the largest chunk of plastic I've tried to lay down all at once since I started with the printer.

19hrs / 38% and counting.

Ender 5, wanted bed leveling so order a cr touch... shows up go to install it... oh this is an old motherboard (1.1.5) so just ordered the 4.2.7.

Was going to grab a SKR E3 V3 board as it has a much higher level of recommendation... however then I need a new screen as it isn't compatible with the screen so avoided that path.

Success!!!!!

Even cleaned up reasonably nicely in spite of the tree supports going a bit overboard when I scaled up the model. Essentially a 24 hr print, but I dropped the layer height down to .1 in order to bump the detail up (and lessen the effect of layers on printed spheres).

Enclosure for resin printer is almost done. Obviously inspired by the lack enclosures people tend to use for filament but tweaked some. Insulated foam sheets and some venting to go out the window once it goes through the air scrubber.

Yesterday tried to do some cutting on the CNC and couldn't cut through the target material, I kept setting it deeper but it never cut all the way through. What I didn't realize is my spoil board is a bit lower than my guide rails and I was maxing out on Z-Travel. I have that sorted out now and made a few cuts in a sheet of HDF.

400x400 dragon like this I was cutting out in ~ 4 minutes. I feel like I almost need to buy a LTT banana for scale :)

Spent most of last night looking into cupboard plans since that is the real goal and wow is some of it expensive. ~$150 plans are not bad but when you need Fusion 360 Pro just to load them makes the price for software higher than intended for personal use.

Both reprap and wholesale hobby were out of black so it is ...purple... but first time ever printing in TPU and it came out really well. I can get replacements for the large handles but not the small ones.

Also the first time printing something where I didn't just take an stl and print it as is.

Believe I'm going to try out PCBWay's metal printing service. Have a few small pieces that will be sitting very close to some high powered LEDs. Every material I've tried has melted. Including PA12 which is a very high temp material. Looks to be about $70USD + shipping for 2 pairs. Not too bad. Items are very small tho, about 2g each when printed from plastic.
