A Tools Thread

any suggestions for a relatively decent, budget gas chainsaw?
Honestly depending on what your doing either something used or something battery powered and skip the new gas ones. It is often just another engine that needs to be maintained when unless your cutting down fully mature trees a battery one will do the job.

I need gas...and probably 4-stroke (I know this likely precludes 'budget' as an option) as I HATE the smoke 2-stroke engines pump into your face. probably something in the 60 - 70cc range that can run a long bar.

@lowfat you've amassed a huge quantity of tools over the years, I'd like to see pictures of something you've built someday.
Mostly just spending time organizing and getting shop ready. Organizing is like my to go 'hobby' these days :o. I had just started working on a workbench. But realized using my little benchtop jointer was useless. So tomorrow I'll go buy a thick sheet of melamine to make a jig to flatten them w/ the planer.

Some recent yard tools.

DeWalt 60V mower and 20v edger have been my two recent outdoor tool additions. The mower doesn't like overly tall grass but it works well and basically doesn't weigh anything even with a 60V 9AH battery in it.

Just the idea of using an edging spade to do the lawn made me feel uncomfortable.

With the two 9ah batteries that came with the mower. I can edge, mow, weed eat, and use the leaf blower to clear any grass from the walk ways.

Just get electric if you don't like smoke. Most good gas chainsaws are two stroke.

If you aren't doing big work, electric works great.

Gas is for cutting up big logs and lots of them.

I have 2 gas and one electric pole saw and when sharp either cuts a branch just as fast.
