Hey,

Anyone already downloaded Nougat for your Nexus?

Downloading right now on my Nexus 6P, 1.2GB!

I'm running it on my 6P, couple days in, official release. So far it's good. Nothing too revolutionary or anything, more evolutionary, but a couple features I wanted. I really wanted it for the bundled notifications and the redone notification shade in general! Twitter sometimes would fill my bar with little birds. Now when there are more than 4, poof, all bundled under one bird icon. Why that took so long to come I don't know but glad it is here. The split screen is fine, no biggie for me. The double tap to switch back and forth between two apps is very nice. I use that a lot already. I tend to often need to go back and forth between an email and the browser so that feature works great for me. Battery life supposed to be better... meh. As usual for me I never seem to see much if any difference with the claimed battery life improvements. Maybe I just use my phone too much! ;)

It just installed so I will explore a bit. For the battery life, I find that I usually need to do a system restore to really see a difference with a new version.

I will probably have to wait 5 or 6 months for a Cyanogen Mod build to be released for my phone. Even if an ASOP vanilla build shows up I won't use it. Unwilling to give up my customization.

Merging same notifications, double tap home (or long press home), split screen are things that have been on other non-vanilla Android phones for years.

True, in various good or not so good implementations. That is why it has perplexed me that they took so long to implement them into stock. Maybe their partners wanted some feature differentiation? Dunno. Anyway, I am pleased with 7.0. I went off stock for a while for a few phone but Nexus and stock Android (with frequent updates) is still my favourite. I used to flash custom ROMs. It was fun for a while but when I finished experimenting and learning about it I just wanted my phone to work. Stock Android fits my requirements for the majority of what I look for.

Quick tip if you want to get 7.0 on your Nexus sooner without manually flashing it. Enroll your device in the Android Beta program. You'll get the OTA release version and in my case it showed up almost immediately after I enrolled. And no factory reset required with this option.

Don't have it so I can't comment on it personally, but after the HUGE disappointment that Marshmallow was with the new features that were nearly useless I'm just saying I'm in no rush to put it on my phone before Motorola makes it available to us and I hope it doesn't bork my phone. Motorola is one of the fastest to implement updates and my X Play is on the short list definitely getting the update. We'll see.

That's what I did. Very quick to get the update notification, 1.2GB download!. So far so good, battery life seems to be a bit better. For the rest, nothing revolutionnary but it's nice.
