Wow!!! I’ve seen the end of the tunnel! It’s been such a stupid long time….
Sorry guys for the long-awaiting result but that build must have been the one I had the most hiccups of all the ones I did.
Ironically, the only thing that went well here and that mostly never happen is a 100% leak-free loop. Not even a small loose fitting. And trust me I did flush this thing enough times that I can even remember how many there was.
To cut the story short, Since I received my new mid plate from Parvum I had a « few » things that didn’t got the way I wanted.
First, I realized that I couldn’t fit a 360 rad in the bottom chamber with a thick rad in the front and with the kind of loop design I was going for. Don’t get me wrong a 360 rad fits very well there even with a thick radiator in the front but you dont have any real space between them to pass let’s say a tubing that comes from behind the motherboard. So I ordered a 240 to solve my issue.
Second, once I received my 240, I was able to start the installation of all the watercooling components and to build the loop. And then I did my leak test (which went flawlessly like I mentioned)….The last thing was to « simply » fire this baby up…..and then goes the second (much more frustrating) issue. I was having a lot of flickering at some random time but mostly at the login windows page and when I was able to go through the login the nightmare was still present in Windows. I tried all the usual thing, like ram (1 stick, 2 sticks, etc…), one GPU, no GPU (integrated GPU only) but nothing was working. My thought was that I had a bad motherboard. Since the board is sponsored I needed to be sure that it was indeed the board. So I started to switch things…different SSD, different OS, different GPU….nothing was working. So I was under the obligation of buying another board and other RAM to go deeper in my tests….I received the items and did continue my tests…..of all the mix & match I did….not a single one did work. I was about to pop a blood vessel……The only thing I didn’t swap was the CPU because never in my life did I had a faulty CPU. So I bought another CPU……………Received it………..Installed it…………..BAM the PC went alive without any issues!!!!!!
I still can’t believe it was the CPU all this time. Back in October, when I received my components, I did some primary tests but that’s it. I remember that I wasn’t able to have a decent OC on the 6700K but it wasn’t a big issue for me. I should have pushed that CPU more than what I did….lesson learned….
So here we are today with a completed build!!! I did the shooting yesterday morning. So here you go….I will take a few night shots with the LED’s on tonight and post them later.
To conclude, I want to thank all the partners of this build for their patience and their help. And to all the ones who did follow me here…thanks for sticking around even if it was wayyyyyyy overdue.
Take care everyone and see you in another future build!
