Hey all;
Had a small motor vehicle mishap this evening (net getting into details here). Went to the collision reporting centre to file a report, and they took my info, but they did not file a formal report since I told them my damage might be less than $1000, and the other driver did not stick around. They kept my info, in case the other driver shows up, and I would not get into trouble for not reporting. If he/she does not report, and my repair is not too bad, no formal report will be done and I can get the repair done myself.

That said, I have absolutely no idea how much a bumper repair will cost.

Best description of the damage:
- looks like some plastic barbs or something have popped
- a crack about 6 inches long, just below the headlight (headlight scratched a little, fog light perfect condition)
- no broken lights, or apparent frame damage...looks like its plastic/fibreglass only
- 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring

Any ideas on what types of estimates will be thrown at me? I would be paying cash, and not going through insurance (hopefully).

Funny thing is, I almost jumped on Eldonko's 3930K chip for $600...looks like I'll be using that on the car now. No Sandy Bridge-E for me if this runs north of $400, which I think it might be.

It was but I still had to pay like $600 of it.

OK...from what I have seen and heard, costs go up a fair bit when the collision shop knows the insurance company will be paying. That was my experience with a windshield repair as well....when asking for an estimate the windshield centres asked right away if it was insurance.

Thanks. Hopefully I won't be in the $1200 range.

I'm not sure but I can tell you that I looked into having my front bumper painted because i have a good lookie sized chip out of it, just the normal stock paint color the car came with and that was 500 alone. So looking for a whole new bumper +painted + installation it will definitely be upwards of 500. My guess would be 1000 or a little more.

Does it really need to be fixed? You could just rock it ghetto style if it isn't affecting the turn lights or anything.... then again who wants to drive a ghettofied 2010?

Got to the scrapper and find a car, same year, same colour with rear end damage - cheapest way to fix her up

i say you can get it fixed for around 300-500$

just get it repaired with some fiberglass

material costs would go around 100$
max 3 hours of labour
just remember insurance estimate costs=50% cash:whistle:

if you were in montreal i'd hook you up :thumb:

it should be instant Perminant loss of business lisence or prison time or like $1m fine for any profession to change their price depending on payment method. Dentists and Doctors do the same thing and its absolutly stupid.
