Gamers Nexus vs LTT

Linus sells. GN gives facts.

What I don't like about Linus is he goes way over the top with things like servers or monitors that nobody can really afford. For example, the pool cooled computers was the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Anyone in the industry of heating and cooling would have made very different recommendations, which I'm sure were made, and ignored.

GN dives very deep into their testing, again, way over the top, and not to their benefit. As a consumer I have way more respect for someone giving me the cold hard facts vs making bank. I feel like a customer instead of a debit card and they take the risk for me instead of me rolling the dice.

The whole thing started off because LTT did a shit job of reviewing hardware, I think..
Did a poor job, but the billet labs was probably the worst part. They got a prototype that was supposed to be tested then sent back to the developer, used it on a incompatible product, complained about the product not working, then auctioned it off without letting the developer know when they were understandably asking "where's our prototype". LTT ignored it until 2 hours prior to the GN video calling them out went live (in very obvious spin control).

They got pointed out for data inconsistencies, not issuing corrections or updates. This was sometime after they originally got PR flack for not providing warranties on products (or very limited ones) and Linus's public response was 'Trust me bro, or just buy another' (I don't remember the exact words)

With Linus, you can sure tell when he is shilling a product.

Perfect example is when he "reviewed" the 55" Ark and he was just going on "oh wow 1000 zones!!!" (or however many it has), he made a big too do about it (was getting sickening) and a few weeks before he reviewed something like the Samsung g9 that had something like 2500 zones and barely made a comment on it.
Well there was a big 'sponsored by samsung' banner at the beginning of the video. :p

Watch the intro on last week's WAN show. That bullet labs info is just not correct. GN didn't ask LTT for a comment and BilletLab was picking and choosing the emails. LTT told BL they were going to be testing it on unsupported hardware. Nor did they originally ask for it back.

I'll stand corrected. I know there's controversy between LTT's and Billet's account, but I'm not interested enough to go through the threads, twitter posts and vids (WAN, GN or otherwise).

Linus gives peeps what they want, and he's done a damn fine job of it.

Yup, love him or hate him, you gotta give him that. I would guess that some of the decisions on which videos to make often comes down to viewership of previous similar videos..... for instance, as per a previous comment, about the swimming pool cooling, I thought it was over-the-top, and really quite ridiculous, but I watched it anyway, just to see how it all came together(or didn't), and even though I'll NEVER have, or use, any of the server stuff they do vids about, I always watch those, because for some reason, I find them interesting.

he's too over the top too much of the time...no real serious moments / consideration.

Agreed - there have been many videos that sounded interesting to start with, but after a couple of minutes of silly crap, I can't stand it anymore, and simply turn them off.

GN is the same, but in an entirely different way and with his hair; I'm sorry, I just cannt take him seriously, LoL!

😆 I hear ya! I don't watch too many of GN's vids, but when I do, I'm often sittin' here thinking to myself, "dude, would you just tie up that hair already, so we don't have to watch you CONSTANTLY pulling it back outta your face!". 😆

And to be fair it's a shit product at any rate. Anyone that's been in the watercooling space can tell you it's overpriced junk.

Probably cause he's working 100hr+ weeks, no time to get a hair cut :ROFLMAO:

I'm inclined to agree with the comments, I think Steve is burnt out. He needs to step away and take a break. At least the videos that people seem to push on Reddit, they've all been "hit" pieces of late. I don't follow the channel directly though, nor do I follow LTT. I much prefer written content over these videos.

I think LTT has kinda become what "TechTV"/"The Screen Savers" was back in the day? More of a mass-market "tech guy". Linus' appearance on Fallon also helped solidify this to me.
