One thing I did discover that may help others: I was getting a lot of stutter when running around in the game and didn't seem to be making much difference what graphical setting I used. I was a little dismayed given I have a 1080 Ti now! Turns out there is an issue that some online think is related to G-Sync (ironic...) that is causing the stutter.

Solution: Turn off v-sync in the game and then go into NVIDIA Control Panel and go to 3D settings and then the Programs tab (not the exact names but you'll find it). Add a profile for Grim Dawn and then in that profile turn on v-sync. That smoothed everything out for me.

As I have g-sync I turn v-sync off in games now and set the overall setting in NVIDIA Control Panel to Fast for v-sync. Works great everywhere else so far. However, Grim Dawn needed this set uniquely. Having v-sync on isn't an issue in this type of game anyway, especially it if smooths out the visual experience.

Is it a safe bet that it'd probably be worth my while to purchase TQ and this new expansion if I got my money's worth out of GD?

I think so. TQ is a good game if you like this style. The setting is very different than GD obviously. So if you are enjoying GD for the setting and don't know if you'd like an ancient Greek style as much then you may not be quite as into TQ, but gameplay and quality is still there. Definitely on sale it's a good option.

Disclaimer: I don't have expansion and haven't played it. Only the original ones.

EDIT: I just picked up the TQ Anniversary Edition on Steam for $5.19 CAD. Had the original but that is less than a Starbucks drink for the upgrade! How could I resist??

Damn man. 5.19 is less than a Starbucks? Stop drinking carafrapamochachinos, and get a black coffee for 1.89

It's a joke Sagath... a JOKE :haha: But there are drinks there that will set you back that much! TQ is better value was the point... but perhaps if I need to explain it it wasn't much of a joke ;)

I agree it is better value ;) and the joke was fine, that’s why I commented about the girly drink costs.

...you’re not a pumpkin spice latte guy, are you? *shudders*

Just fired up Grim Dawn again, the first time since it's actual release... noticed that I had 66 hours logged on Steam all from early development/beta play :haha:

Just FYI - I don't have this issue.

Win10 x64 (1703)
1080 Ti FE
Global Driver setting - Fast Sync
Grim Dawn - vsync on

I do recall from the past that the beginning of the game - particularly the swap areas - were very taxing on machines, and I do recall making some tweaks when I had a Maxwell card.. but no issues on this configuration thus far.

Thread res of the year!!!!! :)

I grabbed the full DLC to play instead of D IV and I'm enjoying it, but they've annoyingly chosen to use an elevator music version of the last half of Supertramp's Fool's Overture in Malmouth. Took me quite a while to figure out what the tune was reminding me of..... :)

Other than that.... still an enjoyable game, and the Ashes of Malmouth DLC adds a fair bit of content.
