NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB Review Comment Thread

Thanks for a great review guys.

nVidia seems on a roll.
If there were any reason for me to drop my fantastic GTX570 I'd be all over this puppy.

I have to say your Eyefinity results for BF3 in HD 7970 in the recent GTX 670 review are really suspicious. The gap between HD 7970 and GTX 680 has increased significantly from your previous reviews.

I have spoken to a user in hardocp forum who has tested both HD 7970 and GTX 680 in multi monitor. His opinion is very clear . the HD 7970 is faster.

From a reputed website

Nvidia's GeForce GTX 670 graphics card - The Tech Report - Page 5

the HD 7970 is faster than the GTX 680 and GTX 670 significantly at Eyefinity resolutions

As for 2560 x 1600 Ultra 4X MSAA "Rock and a hard place" benchmarking done by legitreviews shows much different results. Sapphire HD 7970 (950 Mhz) is slightly faster than GTX 670. MSI HD 7970 Lightning is slightly faster than GTX 680.

Its the same BF3 level as you have used. You might have used a different part of the level. But still to come and say the GTX 680 is 25% faster than HD 7970 (45.99 to 37.21) is simply. :haha:

As for 2560 x 1600 Ultra 4X MSAA "Operation Swordbreaker" benchmarking

HARDOCP - Battlefield 3 - Sapphire HD 7970 OC Edition Video Card Review

Sapphire HD 7970 (950 Mhz ) - avg 40 fps min 27 fps
Sapphire HD 7970 OC (1280) - avg 50.7 fps min 34 fps
GTX 680 (1100 turbo) - avg 42.9 fps min 25 fps

Thats a 7.5% difference which the GTX 680 (1100 turbo) has over HD 7970 (950 Mhz) . HD 7970 will easily surpass GTX 680 at similar clocks as shown by its brilliant performance scaling to 1280 Mhz. FYI operation swordbreaker is the most demanding level in BF3.

I can't say anything but this - your website looks awfully like Nvidia marketing division. Don't think that whatever you put up in your website is taken as it is. People know when somebody is not honest. And I can say clearly whatever you try to convince anybody else you cannot convince the people who do their research rather than blindly swallow from paid journalists like you. :angry2:

Holy cow! a quick google search...and all he posts = Nvidia bashing and 7970 protector...

Yup Inik. Looks like AMD's marketing division is in full damage control mode to me. Just look at the marketing buzzwords he uses in his posts. e.g. "brilliant performance scaling". ROFL. You can always tell a paid troll from a fanboi by the buzzwords they use.

I don't get it. He misquotes the reviews he's using as proof, he incorrectly reads the reviews here, and then this part:

Sapphire HD 7970 (950 Mhz ) - avg 40 fps min 27 fps
Sapphire HD 7970 OC (1280) - avg 50.7 fps min 34 fps
GTX 680 (1100 turbo) - avg 42.9 fps min 25 fps

Wow, a highly overclocked 7970 beat out a reference GTX 680? Say it aint so! (PS, the GTX680 was running at 1000MHz, not 1100MHz "Turbo" lol) Hell, that ******* Hard review he quoted has this in the last few paragraphs:

"The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 had a hand up in performance on the stock Sapphire HD 7970 in every game."

"People know when somebody is not honest."

Oh yes, yes we do.

I have nothing against Nvidia. They are the dominant graphics company with a great track record of excellent GPUs like G80, GF110. My opinions are that the GTX 680 can be made to look better than it really is. All it needs is careful selection of games and benchmark scenarios.

Rcapitulatif des performances - Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 en test - HardWare.fr

You can take a look at that website. The demanding games they chose like Alan Wake, Witcher 2 Enhanced edition, Anno 2070, Metro 2033, Crysis 2 portray the HD 7970 in different light. Other than Metro 2033 the rest of the games released in the last 12 months and are quite popular.

The GTX 680 is a good gaming card. Its efficiency is at the cost of compute performance. So it depends on how somebody evaluates a certain chip or card. Nvidia has a massive lead in GPGPU and the professional GPU markets like HPC, Workstations. AMD needs to catch up and thats what its doing with GCN and HD 7970.

AMD's product goals for Tahiti are much different from Nvidia's for GK104. AMD needs to lay the groundwork for HSA and the their future roadmap with GCN. One of the important features with GCN is excellent GPGPU performance with OpenCL and DirectCompute. The future APUs from 2013 will integrate the GCN architecture in their APUs. AMD cannot compromise on GPGPU and HSA features because thats going to be their strength and differentiation from Intel.

I am clear of my opinions. Nvidia's GK104 is a good chip for gaming. When HD 7970 and GTX 680 are both overclocked the HD 7970 will win more games than lose, especially when you look at the most demanding games which struggle to hit 50 fps at 2560 x 1600 maxed out.

So you go from outright bashing sky and HWC to covering your ass and admitting that the 680 is indeed faster at everything that 80% of enthusiasts want to use it for? nice:thumb:

ROFL....yup definitely PAID troll. When in doubt...cover your ass and change the focus of the attack. "Oh its really a great gaming GPU...but who uses their 400 dollar card for gaming?' and "oh its a good gaming gpu BUT only on games that no one plays...all the IMPORTANT games at resolutions few people use show the NV card to be teh suck (but only on obscure websites and not HWC, Anad, Toms...or even NV bashingTweak Town)" yeah that sound sensible. Not. You might want to talk to your marketing manager about getting some BETTER talking points mate as you kinda suck at this "guerrilla marketing" thing. :thumb:
