Rants etc.....

command an $80 price tag? </rages>

Evidently there are far more people willing to pay full price than those, myself included, that wait months/year(s) for any given game to show up in Steam sales.

Hell, I recently threw away some old game boxes and an old version of Civ, I bought at Futureshop, was $50 plus tax and came with a manual more than a centimetre thick!

What?!?! You threw them out? Ah damn. If they were in good shape they would have been worth something, or at least I would maybe have taken them.

That is my rant for the day.

IP is set to a static address but Windows is too dumb to realize it. Makes it hard to diagnose issues w/ my gateway when I can't communicate w/ anything on the entire network. :angry2:

Check your event logs for an IP Conflict, that's usually the case when you try and assign a Static IP but you get an APIPA address. Also, ensure your router (or what ever handles your DHCP) doesn't have any reservations for the IP you are attempting to assign.

I'm pretty anal w/ my IP addresses. I had no VMs up at the time and w/o my gateway my AP won't work. So the only two IPs on the network were my ESXi management IP and my PC.

Thankfully my Surface isn't a POS so I was able to connect a USB NIC, set a static address and upload the backup.
