Some home audio upgrades

xentr_thread_starter
FINALLY decide to work on office setup. As honestly, I haven't had speakers even connected for going on a year lol.

Plan was to use the Klipsch KG1s I bought for $15 a few months, the Denon X1200W AVR and the Soundstage 8" sub I bought for $50 combined a couple weeks ago. I factory reset the AVR. But the Klipsch speakers just don't sound right. Drivers are all working. But it sounds like the AVR is on concert hall. I don't like it at all. I pulled out the Kef bookshelves to compare and they sound normal.

Maybe I'll pull out the measuring microphone later and do some runs w/ REW to see what is up.

My home audio upgrades were nothing like yours.. good job with everything man!

I used my NAD AVR that I bought in 2011 with some Mirage towers, Mission center and surrounds, and my Monitor Audio sub. I mean.. it was ok. But terrible for music. So I bought a JBL soundbar with sub lol.. it was actually pretty good. So I bought a bigger one, and it was better.. but still bad for music.

So for Christmas, I got an Adcom GFP-345 pre and GFA-535II amp and a pair of Energy Connoisseur C4 speakers. Nice!.. but then I came across a pair of 15in Vegas for 500.. so I got em. Now the house can rattle. The 535II is pretty good, sounds good.. but I came across a GFA-555.. ugh.. so now I am looking for another so I can run on each side for bridged power. The thing about those Vegas.. I doubt they will ever live down the party speaker image.. but these sound better than my Energy's. And I am not just talking about bass.. the mids and highs are very easy on the ears. You can listen to anything on them and they will sound good. I have them sitting on concrete and had a problem with resonance, until I planted the 90lb cabinets on some silicon domes. Massive improvement. I was running a couple of subs, but I pulled them because they are not needed.. they are just too much lol. I do have a rack.. I bought a tuner, and I have some other equipment in there, but I think later today I will put it all in the rack and maybe do something with my AVR as pre, and work my 555 and 535II into the mix. I have a full Definitive bi-polar setup that I can use.. its all tucked into a corner right now. It all started when I sold some ram for way more than I bought it for, and Marketplace.. Now I have a ton of shit that is taking up space :(
