TechNet discount coupon code.

I stand to be corrected, but AFAIK the OS and Office keys don't expire (outside of the 10 activations /key limitation), but the higher end software (like the business server apps) keys are only good for as long as the subscription is valid. If you're mostly looking for OS and Office, then you won't find a better deal. Just keep in mind that it's for your own personal use... I'd imagine MS would take a dim view of things if these keys start showing up as updating from 100's of different IPs (as in you're building systems and putting them out the door with these keys).

Are you sure about the 10 activations limit per key? I think that's kind of scary as I upgrade various parts in my computer throughout the year and that may trigger an activation request. What are the odds MS will deny an activation? I'm really new to this and I guess I'll have to more or less take your words on this.

I've heard that they're not too hard to get along with when it comes to re-activating the key, but even without that, keep in mind the shear # of keys you get with the subscription.... :) 10 keys for each different version of the OS each with 10 activations / key. That's 100 total activations for each version. Now keep in mind that it's 10 keys for 32bit ultimate, 10 keys for 64bit ultimate, 10 keys for 32bit home, 10 keys for 64bit home, etc....... it'll be a hell of a long time before you run out of keys/activations.

Actually I think they changed the way the keys are handed out. When I get a key for say Windows 7 Professional 32 bit, 64 bit uses the same key as the 32 bit version, thus cutting down on the number of keys.

I'm actually running out but that's because.................

Does that mean if i use server 2003/8, once the year is up i wont be able to activate it again? Shouldnt be a huge issue if an image is kept, but the option would be nice.

I guess they will be also if someone activate 100 of them personally.. They will make sure you don't run an office ... if so I will not like to be in court again MS for have use 100 nonlegal license for few years...

personal USE of Technet is illegal

"personal use" for evaluating purposes only by a single user is what is stated in the licencing agreement. A FAQ statement includes "You may not use it in a live operating environment". MS takes a dim view of any abuse/misuse of their licencing agreements. I'm rather surprised this forum has repeatedly condoned this illegal use of the Technet subscription. If one is going to ignore the terms of M$ licencing agreements .. why pay anything.

Today is the last day of the deal. I'm tempted to subscribe today just because of the discount, but money is a bit tight at the moment. Not sure if it's wise to do so. Does anyone here know how often discount codes are released by Microsoft?
