The Happy thread!

my fil has hoarded stuff for his whole life. we have slowly been getting rid of stuff. i. the last 6 years we've filled 3 or 4 5 ton bins. I'd say we have at least one more of junk to go after he dies.
Im not quite that bad lol

But damn, I had boxes for stuff I haven’t owned in years.

Even had a retail i5-13500. When the hell did I buy that and what project did I buy it for..

I’ve still have a Celeron I was going to use for something… someday…

A de-clutter is in my future too. Thanks for the inspiration 😁

Just got confirmation that we're approved for a free heatpump (possibly two) through our provincial program. :)
If you're on gas today, would be curious to see if your operating costs go down or up. I think NB and (southern) ON are pretty similar in weather and electricity costs.

Not on gas. We've got an electric hot water baseboard setup.

There was some question as to whether or not we'd qualify as the NB program wasn't keen on doing the heatpumps/mini-splits in homes that didn't have individual room temperature control.

Ideally, our best bet would be to get some electric baseboard heaters for the rooms which won't be directly heated by the heat pump(s).

Since we're already using electricity to heat (albeit in a roundabout way with an electric boiler) the real question is how much more efficient a new electric heatpump will be when compared to a 50 yr old boiler.

Shouldn't they just have multi-heads on the units to heat all the rooms? Maybe "mini split" is the term and not "heat pump" though.

But yeah, my line of question was more around the efficiency and if they've improved in the past 5yr. I had considered it when swapping out my furnace + AC, but they were too cost-prohibitive and it didn't seem like it would ever pay itself back.

I believe they can do something along those lines if the house already has existing duct work, but for homes without ductwork the most I've heard of is a dual "outlet" (for lack of the proper term) install where a single unit is fed to two different floors on a two floor rancher, but still only to a single "blower" unit (again for lack of the proper term) on the same wall of each floor.
