Bought my first pair of ice skates in probably about ten years. Prepare for the inevitable "My face hit the ice" rant from me!
 
Are you sure your strapping them on the right end?? Most people inevitably rant about their ass hitting the ice. Just checking as you said it has been awhile. :biggrin:

It's a shame you did that in Calgary, could have given you free refresher lessons, after you know getting some comic relief first from ya.

I'm 30 and I've never gone skating. I've roller bladed before, so I can't imagine it'd be too hard, but skating's something I keep meaning to do and plans have just never materialized. Bad Canadian I know (but hey, I also don't like hockey, poutine or beer so maybe I'm some type of Canadian-contrarian)

Skating vs Rollerblading are TWO completely different concepts.

I've done both and I found rollerblading easier.

Same as skiing vs snowboarding.. snowboarding was much easier.

The interesting thing is if you can skate or rollerblade learning to ski is a lot easier then if you haven't learned to do either with some skill.
