Can't remember when or If I ever even posted in this thread, but what the hell?
Fair warning: I'm a rocker and metalhead, but I *don't* listen to most bands that some would consider "a wall of noise". I've actually been on a trend for a while now of following bands with awesome female singers and songwriters, so it's not your "typical" metal either.
So, if anyone is looking for some new heavy bands with interesting and unique flavors, here's a few that have been on repeat for me for months:
Jinjer - Pieces, Jinjer - Perrenial
Infected Rain - Orphan Soul. Infected Rain - Lure.
Nightwish (yes they're back!!) - Noise.
Kobra and the Lotus - Triggerpulse.

In what way, like bands? Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation are staples. Amaranthe , Leaves Eyes (lot softer), After forever few others to look at.
Technically speaking its metal with some form of non-metal stuff with it. Think Symphony and Metallica but less crappy
Female leads tend to be well trained singers, some growling but not as much as other types of metal (This is not Kittie). Lots of cross overs to other subtypes usually by the bands.
I love "In this moment" as well but its more gothic/rock with great screaming lol .Power metal is fun too.
Edit: Should add I have been meaning to listen to more Delain as well. Ex WT people in it.

Yeah I've grown to like a bunch of "metal" bands with female leads that don't scream and yell non-stop. "In This Moment" is pretty mainstream now I would say? It's on SiriusXM all the time. Amaranthe is on my Spotify usually too. I'll check out these other ones you mentioned though.
@Mr. Friendly I wouldn't really call it metal, but Apocalyptica is mostly just music, no lyrics. Heavy on the cello though.
