Whats your latest purchase?

One major issue with not taking the memory upgrades is that some of the mac minis were devouring SSDs with massive amount of page swaps or something like that basically wearing out the SSDs in pretty short order. There is more to it than that but it was part of it. So you have to upgrade for it to not eat itself (it was happening to quite a few people).
Any links? Haven't heard anything like that for the M4 units. A quick google search didn't show anything.

I know it hit a lot of M1s and maybe some M2s. I don't know if it was fixed properly or just happening less etc. I believe it was mostly an issue with the 8GB versions.

I have felt the same. Just haven’t done it yet. A Mac mini seems perfect for my needs.
One of the crazy design ideas was for the on/off switch on the bottom. However, several hubs like the one I bought have a good work-around for it. It's the same size as the mini and mounted below the mini in the picture I posted. Here's the one I selected; besides the added ports, you can add in more storage (it would have been better if it connected to the mini mechanically):

Satechi Mac mini M4 Hub & Stand with NVMe SSD Enclosure, Mac mini M4 Dock with 2xUSB A up to 10Gbps, USB A Data Port, SD Card Reader

For now, I have it hooked up to an old Dell 24" and it's surprisingly good for it's age. But I'll use that as a 2nd monitor once I buy a modern 27" 2K monitor that can take better advantage of the Mac GPU. Using a PC mouse & keyboard with no issues other than learning the difference between the Window Key and Command key on Macs. Sound outputs fine to my Edifiers.

That is ironic considering what you have often built/sold on here. But I suppose we are talking "needs" here rather than cool "wants" ;)
But if you really analyze my history, I haven’t really done many sales on here in a long time, or at the very least not as often as before. And even of the things I did it was mostly used for basic tasks. I have considered an apple machine for several years now but nostalgia, or trying to recapture my more active technological days, is the limiting factor for me

i am even considering buying one just for fun, or maybe even for business purposes. We will have to see.

Yes we have all suffered from your lack of BST posts! :) That big drive was a tempting one but can't right now...

I decided to switch to a Mac Mini for day to day computing come October 14th. Apple does gouge you for memory & storage upgrades but this seems adequate. Easy to plug in more SSD storage.

10-Core CPU
10-Core GPU
16GB Unified Memory
512GB SSD Storage

With Microsoft's EOL for Win 10; Win 10 computer that can't run Win 11, not liking Win 11, not gaming much; the high cost of building a new PC & having to use Win 11; tariff uncertainty. Win 10 computer will be mostly offline use with a lot of older games & other software I still use. My licence for the Affinity Suite (Photo, Design, Publisher) covers both Windows and Mac.

Liking the Mac OS as I use it daily to learn how to use it and adjust from Windows so I can switch over in October.

are you aware MS has a 1 year security patch extension option available? or, perhaps you should install W10Ent IoT LTSC 2021 and not have to worry about Windows 10 going truly EoL until the early 2030's.

2nd auto litter box. One cat doesn't really like the one I got. He prefers enclosed boxes.
