I'm there now for iPhone... and it still makes me feel a little dirty lol I know why they are able to do "it just works" and I don't like how they restrict and charge devs for apps, but like you having a device that just works day in and day out with minimal issues is valuable to me.

Back in the days when I tinkered and swapped ROMs and the like, I was the poster boy for Android. But to me that just isn't worth doing any more with my hobby time.

I'm gonna guess you don't game much anymore? or do you game via the Linux machine? Mac is a lot better with game compatibility then it has ever been, but it's still got a looong way to go.

source - you have to filter games by Mac OS to see which ones are available to play ;)
 
I bought a Samsung s26 Ultra. I'm using it for work. It's garbage. I have had multiple apps freeze in the two days I have used it. Apps that have NEVER frozen on my 17 Pro max. Plus the Samsung bloatware on top is gross. I think I'm going to return it. I'll gladly pay the restocking fee to get rid of it.

If you have played on ipad, or on an iphone, then I would assume the performance would be quite similar.

In what ways? It has worst in class battery life and performance. Cameras are no longer flagship level. Software is so limited compared to Samsung. Or even compared to Apple, which is crazy. Resale failure is just terrible too.

I'll never buy another iPhone. But also will never buy a other Pixel.

Unfortunately, the only true gaming OS is Windows. I don't game much, but I do have a small windows box just for that one old game that I occasionally play - Urban Terror. (Ryzen 5 5600X / 32GB DDR4-3200 / RX 6600 XT / 1TB NVMe / Seasonic 750W - small but tough :))

I also have a Pixel 7a that runs Graphene OS that I use when I travel :)
 
I like this comment from Tom's review of the Neo.

"affordable doesn't mean cheap. The MacBook Neo has the quality aluminum chassis you would expect from any other Mac, along with a bright, clear display. It certainly doesn't feel like it's a bargain bin system."


it really raises the bar on the quality that will be expected for budget laptops going forward. hopefully using Qualcomm's ARM processors will lend towards that...or maybe even the one's Nvidia is getting ready to release. makes me wonder how long it will take AMD and Intel to get in on the ARM band wagon.
