Today is my son's first birthday!! The two girls (6 and 3) are having a lot of fun singing happy birthday to him.... over, and over, and over..... haha
If you mean post-processing, it doesn't help. Oddly enough when I try that, my FPS stays the same and GPU usage drops from ~98% to ~75%. You'd think both GPUs would be going full bore and FPS would increase. :blarg:
At my res which is 5040x1050 I get between 60 to 70 FPS on ultra with no AA...
I get the same result in Far Cry 3 with my crossfired 7970's. High enough FPS that you'd think would equal great smooth gameplay, but nope.... it stutters more then Porky Pig!!!!! The games stutters with a single card too but not nearly as much and is very playable. I hope it's just a driver...
I decided to go parallel with the gpu blocks. Mainly because it will be less restrictive and easier on the pump.
A 240 rad won't fit in the bottom. But that RX120 is a full 1" thicker then a standard 120mm rad. With a push/pull fan config it might be close in performance to a 240 with 2...
Since you already own it, I suggest giving it a try. Too many mixed opinions around the web to draw a solid conclusion. An FX-8350 will hit 4.6GHz+ no problem. I have a hard time believing that an older gen i7 running at 4GHz will beat it across the board at those speeds. BF3 is a great...
Depends. Do you plan on upgrading your monitor? I see in your specs you have a 20". The 7870 would probably suit you fine, but I'd go with the 7950 otherwise.
That's what I figured. On the AMD Reloaded web page it states, "Look for an AMD Gaming Evolved Unique ID card with your qualifying AMD Product."
I checked the GPU box too though just in case someone at NCIX may have put it in there. Regardless, they're trying to tell me I should have gotten...
I got my second 7970 from NCIX today, but no coupon for the Reloaded bundle.
The card was an open box item.... but the never settle bundle was automatically added to the cart and it's there on the invoice.
What gives? Anyone know?
I send a message to customer care. I hope someone just forgot...
Others suggested parallel is better, so I'll go that route I guess. I think I'm going to plan to add another rad too.
As for the waterblocks, they'll be face down so the crop circles won't bug me too much.
Kinda like doing an ugly chick and she's..... ah, nevermind. You know what I mean...
Wouldn't you know.... I just sent him a msg via his website, but at the top of the webpage is says....
"ATTENTION: WE ARE CLOSED FROM MAR1 to MAR8
AND CANNOT REPLY TO YOUR MESSAGES ON SPECIFIED DATES.
THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING."
Perfect timing!! Think he'll reply in the next 35 minutes...
Just to give you an idea, here's what I'm getting with my rig. Again, one 7970, 5040x1050. I got these numbers just now running 13.2 beta 6 drivers, using fraps and watching the counter for the lowest numbers. So what I'm listing here is the min fps I saw.
FarCry 3 - max settings with post...
I've been running 5040x1050 with one 7970 for a long time now. I have a friend who's been running a single GTX680 at the res you're asking about. So I would say your pair of 6970's will do the trick for settings you're expecting to run, and they might even better then you'd expect.
Good points. I'll go parallel. BTW, there are two rads in there now. The top 240 and the thick 120 in the bottom. I don't have room for another pump and res so it'll have to stay as one loop.
Yours looks cluttered because the area your hardware is in is smaller, and cable management wasn't...
I have a friend who's a Leaf fan and pretty pissed off right now. He's always talking smack, and he was texting me all day... literally, taunting me about the game tonight. I felt like telling him off a few times haha. All I can say is I'm liking the fact they nailed down 2 more points to...
Loving this build so far! I'm sure the pics don't do it justice. I can't wait to see pics of the entire unit rather then little bits at a time. Quit holding out on us!
P.S. - Are those EK 7970 blocks nickel? If so do you want to sell me one? :haha:
Alright, I posted this in the watercooling section and got no replies yet. I'm deleting that thread and adding the post here in hopes that maybe the members who frequent this area of the forum can help me.
I ordered a second 7970. I'm going to run it on air for a while until I get this stuff...
I almost spit out my watered down Molson Canadian! (it's hockey night, go Habs!)
My rant for today. NCIX finally shipped the 7970 (from Richmond) that I ordered on Sunday. We planned on heading out for the weekend so if it doesn't show up until Friday I won't get to have any fun...
