Ok, at the suggestion of @SugarJ , due to a small brouhaha involving my unwanted input in a recent WTB thread, I humbly suggest that the B/S/T rules receive a slight amendment, or addition.

In the WTB thread in question, the OP was asking about a motherboard, and after another member chimed in that he had two available, I added a "me too" to the thread, since I was in the market for the same item, AND there were two available. That was apparently considered "thread crapping", so I suggest that we get a Rule 12., which reads something like, "Use of other Peoples threads to make it known that you also WTB the same type of item, EVEN if someone has said they have 2 or more of said item available, within the original WTB thread, is strictly prohibited. In this case, start your own thread."

I don't see a problem here personally... if there is two boards.

That was my thinking at the time, i.e. why start an entirely new thread for the same thing, when someone is offering two of the items in question, which one Mod, at that time, seemed to agree with. I suppose, because I also mentioned I'd PM'd the person with the boards, the OP thought I was trying to scoop something out from under him, which, TBH, I can understand(although that wasn't the case), so at some point he complained(apparently not, as cleared up by sswilson), and Mods deemed my intrusion to be "thread crapping"(which could also use some clarification as to the definition of the term).

I think it's best just to use pm for questions or concerns within a bst thread.

Exactly - as I mentioned to Sugar, had I simply PM'd the person with the boards, and not posted a "me too" in the thread, the OP wouldn't have known, and wouldn't have been pissed, and the Mods wouldn't have felt the need to clean the thread of "crap", but I had no idea that posting "me too" would be an issue when there were multiples of the same item available. Had there been a rule, similar to my proposed wording above, I would've known my "me too" post was a no-no, and the whole issue wouldn't have happened.

It could have been avoided entirely if the person in question (with the motherbboards) pm'd the op of that wtb thread.

I'm not fully aware of the details but posting "me too" in a buy sell thread could easily reroute the sale, especially if the secondary person has a higher rep, or has been a member longer. At this point the op kind of has the right to have excess messages removed from his thread.

As a person who has sold his share here and elsewhere, I don't mind people commenting nice things about the items in my sale, or "check your pm's etc" because it could help me sell the item, or draw attention to a missed message. I don't really care for open discussion about the pro's and con's an item may have or any other irrelevant information.

Anyway, just my humble opinion.

I'm not going to put my finger on the scale of this discussion, but need to clarify that the OP of the thread in question did not in fact complain to a Mod. The actions taken by mods was carried out in response to what we saw in the thread, not in response to a complaint by the OP.

we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming...

And the highlighted items are exactly what the rules refer to by threadcrapping. When the forums were busier before the reviews switched to Youtube, I spend lots of time removing extraneous posts and issuing warnings or infractions until repeat offenders got the hint. Any OP has the right to expect his thread to remain clean, and I do remove old bumps and random comments as I have time.

Except that, at the time I threw in my "me too", there were two boards available, and two people asking about them, so a reroute seems rather unlikely, unless one of us was greedy, and wanted both of them.

And the highlighted items are exactly what the rules refer to by threadcrapping.

And if you think about it, had I posted an entirely new thread of a similar title (or rather, kept the one that I did post), and there was only 1 board available, THAT could result in the same scenario as the highlighted portion above.

As for the term "thread crapping", the text in the rule says, "If you do not intend to buy the item or have nothing positive to add, please refrain from posting in that topic.", so even though there were two boards available, and two of us wanting one, my "me too" is considered to be "nothing positive to add"! That is EXACTLY why I suggested either an amended rule, or an additional rule, AND some clarification of the definition of "thread crapping".

ANYWAY, even though I'm apparently the 1st one in 14 yrs. to question this, methinks we need SOME kind of amendment or addition to the rules, because the potential for confusion still exists.
