So the Motorola/Lenovo ThinkPhone is on sale right now. Additionally, my rep was able to get me an additional drop in price. Coupled with my Lenovo rewards as a reseller, and I was able to snag a ThinkPhone for $0 of real moneys.

I've been devoted to my Pixel 5 since it was released, but it's time for an upgrade and the price is right. I LOVE the 5000mAh battery and some of the Lenovo software that's baked in for productivity. My biggest concern is the camera, since I'm a parent and take a ton of photos.

I didn't even know they made one, that's cool. Let us know what you think! Also unrelated, but I was out at a neighbors of your old job yesterday in north van lol. A client is on the same floor, and I recognized the name of your old gig!

Which building? They actually moved across the street from the original location I think. They're in the ICBC building now right across from the SeaBus. Or at least, they will be soon if they haven't moved. If not, then I'm curious who your client would be? Dentist? Accountant? Travel Agency?

The service Canada building. Client is a small media/marketing company, actually!

And just like that... so much has changed.

I got a couple emails today from Lenovo. The first stated that my order was cancelled at MY request for the phone. Immediately following that, I received another email stating that the device is 'no longer available'. So I called my sales rep who insists there's still stock and he doesn't know what happened. After some very annoying juggling between departments to determine what happened here, it's now been explained to me that the ThinkPhone has been discontinued and flagged as 'end of life'. This sounds incredibly suspicious given the phone was only released at the end of January this year.

I don't understand how a phone that's only 9 months old can be flagged as EoL. Not to mention, if the device is in stock, why can't they just sell me one?

After some further digging, I'm finding a host of consumers that are angry with Motorola because their post-sales update/support team is apparently terrible. With some users complaining they haven't received a single Android update in well over a year. So maybe this being cancelled is a dodged bullet for me? But either way, this was a very poor experience from an otherwise fantastic company. And I'd still like to know WTF happened to the ThinkPhone?

There is still a pre-release amazon phone somewhere in the office. If sales are exceptionally bad they are going to drop a product. That Amazon phone was dropped really fast.

For a cell phone I think they also need to partner with retailers. If your not even on Rogers, Bell, Virgin's sites etc your exposure to the mass market is basically zero and only this week with your posts did I even know there was a Lenovo phone on the market in the first place. But most people I think liekly finance their phones and not being tied into those retailers is a huge market that your missing out on.
