I got a D0!

Yup. My motherboard BIOS read 1.225 V, but it says 1.19 V or so in CPU-Z. Just try and get the Vcore as low as possible.

I agree totally with you "5"....my Core temps at 3.83 Ghz under full P95 load never get above 65c...these guys going to +80c are living on the edge as far as i'm concerned....at $400 a Chip...to get from 4 Ghz to 4.2 Ghz ...wtf.....?

then go for it.....show me your Vantage scores going from 4 Ghz to 4.4 Ghz......hardly worth it my friend....

I had my lowly "CO Stepping Chip" P95 stable at 4.2 Ghz (on air)......no problems at all...the vCore required is irrelevant when you consider my load temps were 83c...whats the point?
My Vantage Score from 3.8 Ghz to 4.2 Ghz was +800 Mks.....who shivs a git...the bottom line is do you feel comfortable with these load temps.....I certainly don't!
As said...imo..unless your cooling with water the whole "DO Stepping" has been blown wayyyy out of proportion....also...I really do hope your running DDR3 @2000 Mhz to take ful advantage of those high clock speeds...if your running 1600Mhz...gaain...whats the point?

-Temps don't bother a lot of us, since Intel's throttling starts at 100c, I guess that's when they get worried about the temps Edit: I should add, I keep mine below 80 on prime95, which translates to about 50-60c under any everyday app. Unless that's all you do with your comp is run prime or Linx 24/7 day in and day out, the point is moot.

- I agree, voltages are irrelevant unless you're exceeding what's recommended. ie: if you're not o-clocking and you have a low volt high temp chip, you could claim warranty if it failed. If you had the low temp high volt, well you could not (or should not)....

- now in a lot of apps the i7's are clock for clock similar to the previous gen in terms of performance, except the mem bandwidth. At PC1600 they carry 3x the bandwidth of the previous gen, but you believe more is needed to make a 10%-15% higher o-clock worthwile ? Sorry, I disagree. Have you compared the Everest scores between loose timings at 2000 vs tight timings at 1600 ?

Hi everyone, I just figured I shoiuld get active in a cdn forum since it is home, and this one seems to be the best ! Glad to see the D0's finaly rolling to this side of the border. As far as temps, I switched from a pressure modded CM V8 to a stock TRUE for the same temps. Then lapped both the cpu and HS down to 1000 grit, at first added a .055", then changed it for a .110" washer. The temps improved by 10c !

Very inferior to 3oh6 3dmark 06 results, here are my3dmark 06 with a d0, for some reason my score is not as badly hurt with HT on compared to my c0.

ORB - Compare

Almost 30k, and this is definitely not the max.

Just broke 30k

4515HT and Turbo enabled. 1.4volts.

ORB - Compare

Hey sheepdogexpress are you on water cooling? You must be, otherwise that would be insanely hot. Good score though!

Yup on water. Its still idles at 32C but loads into the 70C range.

What the heck same gpu as above run but running at 4641, should give better score.

But whats this, I get a worse score.

29600 because sharder 2.0 sucks.

haha, hardly. you're still on air, my CPU is under LN2. you've seen the latest with 99xx CPU score in the Classified thread i hammered out last night?

so you are running a single 4870X2? those ATI cards absolutely kill in Canyon Flight. you are crushing my GTX 295. why is it then that the top five single card 06's are all GTX295's except 1? hold up, how the hell are you getting 180FPS in Canyon Flight...what are your GPU clocks? that is the same as a George at 1000/1072. spill the beans

I am running on water for the cpu. But the cards are on air. Do you have any tips. Yeah I saw your run, well you mister Jody may be breaking into the top 5 soon, I am going to be breaking into the top 100 soon. :bananafunky: Bwah hahaha. Are you sweating bullets?

I might have to start running 3dmark06 in xp, with only the 4870x2. I know I won't catch up, but once I get this x2 underwater, I might get a similar ranking as you if you divided my rank by your rank. Well I can dream.

I am still running muttfire(4870x2 +4890), but I noticed my 3dmark06 is really inconsistent from run to run.

GPU clocks are 800/930 for the 4870x2 and 4890 1000/1175.

I am starting to think my power supply is holding me back again as I gave it more voltage when I was trying to stabilize 4662 and it would actually get more unstable. I think that what might be giving me my erratic 3dmark score, as they vary sometimes.

I have a 850w PS but the 12v is rated for 768 watts. I'm thinking with 1.5 some volts on the processor with HT on, this cpu got to be gobbling more than 200 watts at times. When I run 3dmark06, if its going to fail anywhere it is always the CPU test.

I am running 1.55vtt.

and 3 cards all of which are overclocked and over a dozen fans, I might be pushing that envelope.

I noticed in gpu z those, that my clocks for the 4870x2 were 750, while in catalyst control they were 800. Which one is right?

This gigabyte extreme just seems alot more troublesome than alot of boards. I don't see very many high BCLK using this board at all.

the issue with the Gigabyte boards is they haven't figured out how to crack the 222 number like others have. we first thought it was a BIOS issue but Jigabyte can't seem to get it sorted so it might be physical limitation of their designs.

now your 06 score makes sense...i thought you were just running a single 4870X2, forgot about the 4890. that's why i hate ORB links...screenshots are much better to see what is actually going on, ORB links LIE!

as for your X2 clocks in the two programs, i have no clue. i haven't touched an ATI card since i last moved my 3870X2 to a new stack of papers to hold down. likely another culprit of the mixed breed crossfire you got going on.

I was actually discussing this yesterday.

At 4.3Ghz @ 1.24V, my CPU shows a 200W variance between idle and load, so yours would obviously be even more power hungry.

Throw in the X2 & 4890, and you've got a hell of a load on that 850W PSU.

Might want to invest in a Kill-a-Watt or similar product just to find out :thumb:
