NCIX Auctioned Off Unwiped servers, Contains Credit Info of 258,000 Users

Another thing people can do is put this out on twitter and tag the major news guys, cbc, ctv, global, etc. That will get more attention than what will be got from calling the RCMP.

I look at this two ways, first the guy(s) selling the info should be stopped and have the book thrown at them (although not sure what exactly that would mean here in Canada).

Second, I blame NCIX. Not for this breach per say, but the plain text cc and sin numbers? I mean come on what the hell is up with that? No encryption on anything? This is just not acceptable.

I just realized another pain point. Canada post may be going on strike next week and that means replacement cards could get stuck or delayed :(

This is so disappointing. I hope the NCIX former president and vice president are sued into oblivion and die alone.

This is pretty crazy. Luckily I never used credit card and only E-bill payments, but still, that's some crazy shit this guy is pulling, and he most definitely should be locked up.

he's literally selling personal data on an open market place and giving people his name and allowing them to browse the goods.

it screams honeypot but this guy is actually this stupid.

and he's selling internationally!

if he's not in jail soon i don't know what to say.

Popped here after seeing it on Mobile Syrup on Twitter. Word is getting out.

One of the main benefits of setting up a company is to limit your personal liability. Im no expert, but my feeling is that NCIX is on the hook, but they went bankrupt and I'm not sure that entity exists. The former owners might be able to avoid getting sued, unless there are special provisions in the law somewhere.

Maybe the trustee or landlord who took possession of the servers could be a legit target of a class action. Ill keep an eye out and join up as I was a customer there.

If the former owners of NCIX try to start another business I'll be sure to be a PITA though. As for former employees, what a mess this will be for them.
