Toronto Maple Leafs...

Good luck with Mayers, team leader in minus and all he does is complain. Dont have the D depth? Phaneuf - Kaberle pairing will be deadly on the PP and you have Beauchemin, Komisarek, Schenn, Exelby, Gunnarson, Finger for depth. Not sure who will score though..

Maybe this shakeup gets Phaneuf back on track. We was starting to become a star, so perhaps he will turn it around in Tronno.

Now opposing teams can really hone in on Kessel...

This just substantiates what i said in my last post!

I think Peddie needs to can Burke...because Burke will never fire Wilson...so, lose them both.:censored: I don't want to hear the BS about this being a rebuilding year!

First he handcuffs the team for the drafts(Kessel deal), rendering a last-place finish more than an embarrassment. Now he gets rid of White!!!!! WTF!:shok: He's one of the best players on the team...yeah he's created a few costly turnovers in the last 2-3 games..it happens. Mayers...see ya...he pissed me off...he was a penalty waiting to happen. Blake is having a bad year...i don't know if it's his fault though. It's his style to crash the net, but none of the other players are establishing any net-presence/traffic(Sedin last night, perfect example...Tucker used to live there). Stajan's having a decent year(for him), but in spits and spurts..Hagman..that's just plain retarded! If he isn't scoring, he's making plays or going hard to the net, drawing penalties.

Remember how Burke swore up and down that he was never coming to TO? Then, what do ya know...here he is within the year. I think he took it, to be near his family, and because he's losing his ability, so he chose the most hurting team he could, that way he could always blame the team.

Fletcher's starting to look better and better! :bleh:

I would watch a few games before you condemn the trades totally. Seriously the only way to go is up from here. I think Burke has another trade coming shortly as well.

Burke's stuck on this toughness "obsession". Remember at the start of the season, he said i want teams to fear playing us, etc, etc. That's not the case..in fact any team on a losing streak wants to play the Leafs. Orr's lost quite a few of his recent fights, and penalties are the last thing Toronto needs..cause they just can't kill them off.(Last night was an exception).

Now this...he still doesn't get it.

Burke said:
"I want players that play the game hard and are hard to play against," said Burke. "This guy makes our power play better, he's got one of the hardest shots in the league, he's one of the biggest open ice hitters, he's a quality person - I think it's an important day for us."

Hitting's important, but it's not the "be all, end all". What's he trying to accomplish...build a tough team, that the fans like to watch..and go ohhh..when they flatten somebody, or build a team that scores and wins games..with the possibility of going to the playoffs or better? It's been 43 years since they won the big prize...fans are tired of the bullshit, and want something promising...some quality hockey. The kind with skilled players and goaltending...great passes and plays, pretty goals, not flukes. I love fights and hits just as much as the next guy, but in moderation...it's not something to build a winning team around; not anymore. I think Burke's still stuck in the pre-lockout era. Man..i feel a stroke coming on!

Man talk about cleaning house

Burke should have started with Wilson.

They gave up alot of nhl players for Phaneuf and Giguere. Phaneuf went from being a lock on Team Canada to "see ya later". If he though he was under pressure in Calgary wait til he hears the boo birds from Leaf fans. Giguere lost his starting job to Hillier. And its not like Hillier is a top ten goalie.

Yeah the Leafs saved 1million + in cap space but that's only for 3 players.

I'm not sure the Leafs are a better team after these trades now, tomorrow or down the road.

You guys are crazy.

Phaneuf is much better than White, they cannot be compared. Phaneuf is a larger player with a better shot who thinks offensively. Ian White is a small player with great heart who thinks neutral and just began to think a little on the offensive side. Hagman was the Leaf's biggest loss on this trade, but even so it's not a devestating change. Mayers and Stajan are both replaceable players, nothing special. The Leafs got the better deal on this trade by sending away a few bodies that weren't producing enough for the team.

As others have said, Kabby and Phaneuf will greatly improve the powerplay. McCabe 2.0? I'm very happy to have a new "McCabe", just younger and bigger.

As for Blake & Toskala for J.S., there's nothing wrong with this trade at all. Blake was clearly having trouble being productive at all here in Toronto and Toskala is performed way too inconsistent to keep throwing chances at him. J.S. has been taught by Allure and now he can help Gustavsson until he is ready to take over in a year or two.

The young players have a huge chance to prove themselves now, can't wait to see Stahlberg again.

Great day for Leaf fans.

Don't care much for conversation or really have anything to add I'll say my little peace and be gone....

GOODBYE, BON VOYAGE, SEE YOU LATER, THANK GOD YOU'RE FINALLY GONE TOSKALA YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED and I am done.
