Ok lets see here where do I start, it has been a busy couple months:

New townhouse (well new to me, 1992 built)
Renos included -
  • LVP floors main and second floor
  • New carpet for stairs both up to second and down to basement
  • Baseboards and trim
  • Paint throughout main and second
  • 3 new Toto toilets
  • Replaced bathroom vanities and mirrors for all 3 baths
  • New faucets in all 3 baths
  • Appliances
    • Washer and Dryer - Whirlpool
    • Fridge and Stove - Frigidaire
    • Dishwasher - Bosch
  • Kitchen Quartz countertops and backsplash
  • New faucet and sink
  • Range hood replaced
  • Cabinet handles
  • New tile around fireplace
  • Lighting
    • Dimmable Pot lights all new in living room
    • Dimmable Pot lights replacing existing in kitchen
    • New over table "chandelier" (nothing too fancy just led)
  • All new plugs and switches main and second floor
  • New coat hooks in both entry points
  • Blinds for all windows
  • New locks
I think that is it for the main "renos", but there is more new stuff because of move and such
  • Loveseat with chaise for basement TV viewing
  • Powered sofa bed for sons/spare room - the one that will get fixed/replaced due to the issue of closing if it loses power then gets power back while open
  • Office desk (as seen in other post)
  • Kallax storage thing for office (will help let kitty go from desk to window with ease, she is getting old)
  • Ryobi set - One+ HP:
    • Drill
    • Impact driver
    • Circular saw
    • Reciprocating saw
    • Added a couple 4ah HP batteries as well
  • New radio - Looks vintage and is a really basic (well it has bluetooth) but works great for something in the kitchen
So yea a crap ton since well beginning of August really. Of course countless little things I missed I'm sure. And of course we do still need a new dining room table and some new seats for around the fire. Also need a new stereo receiver or soundbar since that was the one thing that somehow did not survive the move, and let me tell you using just TV speakers sucks bad.

And no don't ask how much it cost, I don't know. I mean sure I sort of know off hand, but I really don't like thinking about it.

I will leave a very quick before and after shot of the kitchen (and no we did not do cabinets, had to stop the budget somewhere) and the half bath.

@Jokester

here are two sites I get eblasts from...many sub-$200 or just over $200 deals advertised frequently.

Yeah... $220 before tax. And I dont live in Ontario so no value for me using a shop out there. The one I ordered is essentially the same as the SCX24 which is their cheapest one. Paid more just for a shop to get it from China first then sell to you? Dont see the point.

I've been spending some money finding the right keyboard combination. My recent purchase of Epomaker Wisteria V2's was a bust for switches. They're relatively creamy, but they feel stiff and mushy to type on. They also list a 38gf, but they feel a bit stiffer than that. Almost like the stem is being squeezed, artificially stiffening the typing experience.

So I decided to spend WAY more than I should, and I bought the following:

Everglide EG Aqua King Linear 55gf x110
Huano Sakura Linear 35gf x110
YG Studio KeyLin Linear 38gf muted x110

If one of this doesn't cut the mustard... well I'll have to pick the best of the bunch for now as I'm eventually going to need to tell my wife what I spent on my keyboard and watch her brain melt.

Just for fun, I also picked up the Drop Gryffindor keycaps because I'm a giant nerd. No idea if I'll actually use them, but I liked the look a lot. Just wish they were shine through.

If everything busts, then eventually I may opt to try the Wobkey Crush 80 that everyone seems to rave about. I really like the condensed 96 layout, but I could probably get by with a TKL as my main. I don't use the numpad all that much.

I shouldn't admit it, but I've gone back to membrane keyboards with the Logitec Ergo K860. I find typing on a traditional keyboard so much more uncomfortable these days. My Kinesis RGB was decent with the lifter kit, but the angle was never quite right.

Once the major players start putting out better mech ergonomics I'll go back, but mostly it seems like it's the usual Amazon 'questionable supplier quality' vendors putting them out right now.

You can admit it... we're all friends here :) Whatever provides the most comfort and gets the job done.

I haven't had much success with ergo ones, only because switching back and forth for work and home was hard on the typing brain. But I'm not to the point of typing being uncomfortable on standard at this point.

I can't do an ergo keyboard. I've tried it and it's just not for me.

I actually really like the Dell Pro Plus Compact that my wife uses for work. It's a chiclet style keyboard and is fantastic for work. Unfortunately it loses it's luster very quickly when using it for any kind of gaming.

My biggest issues with the mechanicals is the overall height of the keyboards. I like the full height switches and keycaps, but I want the base of my keyboard to sit lower to the desk overall. My Rog Strix Scope II was purchased with that in mind, as it's slightly thinner than most mechanicals I've used. I like the snows that come with the keyboard for the most part, but the sound profile is a little poppier than I'd like.

I really liked my Rog Strix Scope II, and I thought it was going to be my long term keyboard but I just couldn't adjust to the form factor as much as I wanted to. I still have it though.
