Whats your latest purchase?

I love studded tires. For the company vehicle, the fleet company will deny requests for adding studs to tires. So I use pre-studded as well. Using Toyo Observe G3 Ice. Last winter I felt like a damn rally car driver any time there was fresh powder.

I've used pre-studded Hakkapalittas in the past, but they are are a Kal Tire exclusive. But eff those guys.

For Alberta winters 3 season tires just not good enough and have always used dedicated winter tires but never used studded tires.

Usually not worth buying cheap studdable tires and studding them usually better off buying higher quality tire. But never tried a set of pre-studded before.

Still need to take them somewhere and get them mounted

Edit:
Rovelo Arctic Vision RW01
Will be on a older AWD with no TC, ABS or other drivers aids
I have used studded tires long ago when BC lower mainland used to always get snow in the winter studded snow tires all around are great , but on pavement the studs wear down pretty quick . then years later working in a tire shop have put studs in some snow tires not sure how they did , I think studded tires would be best in places where winters are actually winters for months ice and snow roads

I have used studded tires, some Toyo, a long time ago.

Only kept them 2 winters, the noise on the road drove me nuts (around 100 km/h), and was unable to listen to radio anymore.

But yeah, aside that, they were doing a awesome job

Since we're talking tires, bought the first new set of tires for the truck. Decide to try going with an all-terrain tire that is snow rated (has the 3PMS rating) and running the single set all year. Went with a brand that was recommended, well reviewed, good warranty, bit cheaper, but I've never heard of them before. So we'll see!

The truck has Firestone Transforce from when I bought it used, which may have been the OEM tire when the truck was new.

My dad had Nexen a while back, they were made in China possibly? Surely been around for a while though. Noise and vibration at highway speeds wasn't the greatest if I recall, but those would have been winter-only tires.

I personally don't want to use studded tires. I want the most quiet ride possible. Don't need to hear a german machine gun from my tires

I've got Hakkas on my RDX currently (studless) and they're.... okay. It's a different vehicle than my previous set of winters, but they feel like they don't handle the cold as the X-Ice tires I've had. They feel like they hold their performance as they wear better than Blizzaks, but the overall performance isn't as good as the X-ice. I probably wouldn't do Blizzaks again, but would try the latest X-Ices (hopefully next year with the new UX300 if rumors are accurate).
