Whats your latest purchase?

Bought a whole lot of crap from Aliexpress. Ordered Barrow blocks for EVGA 3080 + MSI 3070. 3080 even has a water cooled backplate. Bunch of fittings, etc. And ordered a bunch more home automation stuff. Few motion sensors, few smart switches w/ power monitoring, etc.

That's right.... it's 11-11.

I had considered grabbing a block for my Evoke, but it appears to be running fine in the current setup. Maybe I'll have a look to see if there are any deals to be had on fittings.

Okay, so it might not be a modern piece of technology but it is a handmade beauty! Japanese steel is the best!!

I'm not a super connoisseur, but I have some Shun Kai Tan Ren knives....Kai is budget line from Shun and they're awesome knives and even as budget, are far from cheap bought as singles. no idea why or how NCIX got their hands on them...but they had a lot of Tan Ren whitebox for like $100 CAD...9 blades and a block. can't remember if it came with a sharpener or if I bought that afterwards. they were so awesome I started buying them as gifts for friends and family wife hated them when she first started using them as she was used to heavy German steel and it took some time to adjust with such light weight blades. my sister was terrified of them because of how light they were too. she's terrible though, if she cuts herself she promptly faints. LoL!

Just be careful not to cut frozen things with Japanese knives like these as they can shatter.

My wife does all the time with my Global knives and it drives me nuts.

In short I too went with German Knives initially and was happy. Then with my first handmade Japanese blade experience cutting a potato was like H.F.S! It's German push force a cut through a spud vs an effortless Japanese slice! I'm the cook in my family and I tell ya It's the cats ass using fine Japanese steel! Five blades and counting:)
Not a recent photo......I made the magnetic walnut knife strip:)

years ago I bought my wife a set of the Henkel? Damascus VG10 drop forged knives. They are not as nice as the kinds I can get in some of the local knife shops but they still put your average kitchen knife to shame.

so I fully support fancy knives
