Win10 is done for updates as of today, unless you pay for extended security updates.

The only PC I have left in my household running win10 is my "TV box", which is an old SFF HP pre-build with an i5 2400 and a GT1030 (added years ago to give a 4k output). It's only uses are basic tasks like Jackbox games, etc. I suspect I will eventually replace it with a more modern mini-pc. In the short term I will run it as is, but may consider playing with linux on it as well.

Who has PCs left running Win10? What are your plans with it?

EDIT: Once your computer is fully updated, you should have the option to "Enroll now" from the update page, which gets you another year of security updates for no cost (after signing into your microsoft account). TV box decision timeline just gained some time.

My mom's computer, too old for running W11 (some dual core intel 2xxxx).

I'll try to extend for a year with my microsoft account next time I get there.

However, I'm waiting for black friday (or a good deal) for a 14" laptop. She does not want a tower anymore.

The new laptop with a cheap usb docking will do the job (office duties).

Your old SSF will run nicely on any ubuntu distro for years (pick your poison).

I'd probably try the Win 10 LTSC BUT Autodesk Fusion 360 is stopping support for Win 10 in a month. So I'm going to have to upgrade. And they support no other OS besides MacOS.

I've grudgingly upgraded my laptop already.

All my computers are win10. ill probably have to upgrade over the next while I guess. Or get LTSC. I really havent seen anything about win 11 that gave reason to upgrade 😕

I found a guide for it

Already using Linux Mint. Mac Mini is now all my daily surfing, email, photo editing, etc. Will still use my Win 10 for games offline (lots of GOG games, some old, some new), scanning, artwork/design, making music CDs, etc. Go online as needed for game mods, updates, etc. If there's a new must-have game, there's always the PlayStation 5.

Agreed. While there are definitely some features/changes I like in 11, I can say that overall that I preferred 10 over 11, and I preferred 7 over 10. I really wish there was a windows 11 basic/expert/something version that gave you all the modern security/features, but with full control of appearance, and what is enabled/disabled...oh we can dream
