No offence, but I worked security for years, and as much as I would love for everyone to get paid more, it’s a very high turnover industry, and there are always more waiting to get through that revolving door, so it’s really easy for them to keep those wages down. Plus it’s a job that is easily attainable for most people.on my drive to work today I heard on the radio that they are raisign the min wage t ojust 25cents less then what I am getting paid now lol
Yeah it is a vicious circle, costs go up because overhead went up from min wage increases, then people still can't afford anything. On a side note raising the min wage to keep up with inflation will just make all of these companies compensate thus pushing all the goods and services up further making it harder for everyone, including those just above minimum wage. The prices have skyrocketed while everyone else rarely sees a boost.
Grocery store prices go up mostly from greed not inflation / minimum wage. Loblaws profit rose a hell of a lot more than what inflation would cover. Record profits.
At least here, no restaurant pays minimum wage unless you are also getting tips. Even McDonald's pays more. Even after the increase these year, pay is still higher than what it will be.
A 25c increase per meal would easily cover the labour cost increase.
Or approach the security company and ask if there are any opportunities within the company that pays higher wages. You show you're commitment to sticking around for a better wage. Win win.No offence, but I worked security for years, and as much as I would love for everyone to get paid more, it’s a very high turnover industry, and there are always more waiting to get through that revolving door, so it’s really easy for them to keep those wages down. Have you considered gig work like doordash or uber? I’ve been doing it as a side hustle for a while and hit between 20-25/hr. Plus no boss and I can work when I want to work. I usually do 5hrs/day.
ya thats true and also 99% of the people dont do their jobs, I do I have letters from all the places I have been posted at including city hall received a letter from the Mayor of Abbotsford speaking of how good I am at my job especially in deescalation . the one comp-any I havent been doing any owrk wit hwill pay me decent money just walking through crowds at events and radioing in security to remove certain people I used to love doing that espeically big events like concerts but the thing is I live in Aldergorve which is an hour drive to Vancouver plus I am getting a little old for the loud music vibrating every cell in my body hehe but I am constantly receiving emails and clls from that company .No offence, but I worked security for years, and as much as I would love for everyone to get paid more, it’s a very high turnover industry, and there are always more waiting to get through that revolving door, so it’s really easy for them to keep those wages down.
