Just withdraw it then. You lose 10%.

If they are charging a de reg fee, then that’s bs.

That's the way I'm reading it. $125 to de-register.

My concern is that it will need to be dealt with in some form, and that my estate would be on the hook for it should I pass away. (Certainly not the kind of thing you want to leave for your executor to figure out).

Spent around 8 hours messing around with Proxmox and an old i7-950 only to find out it can't do PCIe passthru because Asus P6T's VT-D is broken. Will probably spend more time to muck around with it to see if I can get Hackintosh macOS12 to work.

From my experience it's usually an online investment firm like RBC Direct Investment or CIBC Investors Edge. Most banks, even RBC or CIBC in a normal RRSP dont normally charge dereg fees.

Name and shame the institution so we can avoid them

Yeah, it's ScotiaBank's investment branch, but it was just done through my personal bank.

In fairness, I haven't gone into the bank to verify yet. There's no option online to withdraw to cash (only options to move it between different investment accounts), and this is just the only information I can pull off the website which seems relevant to the RRSP.

Canadian Tire, why would you do this? Literally can't see half the damn products because you put these enormous price screens in front of them. I should have taken the picture from my height instead of lower. It is worse.
I think the Canadian Tire app is supposed to be able to make the price tag flash (a red LED to the right) which might be a bit easier in this case. I've yet to try though. I know it works with the wiper blade tablet at least. Might have to be on the store WiFi too though.

That would actually be a pretty cool feature if it worked.

I tried to use the app the other week, I needed some not gasket maker but stuff that makes the surface sticky for a pre-made gasket so it doesn't fall out of place. It wasn't placed in a location with the fancy new price tags so was a complete waste of effort to even install and load up the app. Would have been helpful has it been setup at that location for that area.
