Emissions Gap Report 2022

It's (understatement in bound) a pretty complex issue that I've been doing a lot of research on lately to figure out what I really think and understand and what has the most likely chance of success based on a variety of requirements. Problem is you can find enough reviews, articles, papers, books, etc. on both sides of the thinking to allow you to comfortably settle into whichever camp you prefer, and that makes it harder to try and determine the "truth".
My stance these days has moved more towards a balanced outlook. Our environmental impact is something we need to manage and move forward on wisely with consideration of what we value environmentally. But I'm also not comfortable with the proposed pace of some of the aspects of change without realistic alternatives in place, and how those moves would impact the nearly 6.5 billion people in the world who lack the standard of living, safety, and opportunities the 1.5 billion others enjoy.
I am firmly not in the camp that values environmental change, or lack thereof in favour of some environmental ideal, over the value of human life and living conditions. Personally, I believe the extreme "climate apocalypse" perspective is false and unproductive dialogue that negatively impacts our children's outlook on the future and hinders them and us from making positive changes.
But this is the "what are you reading thread"! Sorry mods. Clobber this if I'm out of line. I don't tend to comment a lot on these types of topics, but it is something I've really felt I needed to dig into more deeply for my own understanding and thinking.

The UN is pushing this. Any "science" they present is tainted with their predisposed decision this is an "emergency".
If it was an emergency there would be no exceptions. China, India, developing world, no exceptions. The most coal plants built over the last 10 years have been by China in China and other developing countries. The UN has been pushing this emergency for over 30 years now, with exceptions.
If it was an emergency there would be no attempts at wealth transfer to the developing world. Just an excuse, in my opinion, to browbeat the Western nations to transfer wealth, it's disgusting.
If it was an emergency the UN would be demanding that all the world replace their carbon based electricity generation with Nuclear plants. These are the safe and effective, cheap electricity, and they emit zero carbon. Any excuse to ban them should be shouted down. They should be promoted harder than useless green ideas like solar and wind, which have been heavily subsided and are still ineffective.
We have a generation of people who have anxiety and mental health issues because they have been bombarded with this fake emergency. Call me when they actually start making China do something constructive. As I have seen elsewhere, I'll believe it is an emergency when the people who keep telling me it is an emergency act like there is an emergency.
It is an emergency however most special interests, corporations and communist regimes aren't giving up their profits and control!
They're not concerned about doing what's right.
It's costing the planet and the UN is a collective, not a power wielding entity in control........take the planets pulse, it's dying
