I,ve been waiting for this for a new build but i,ll wait to see what final canadian prices will be first as I would like tp do a Raid 0 with these, Interesting drive and the performance is definately better than the old Raptors.. I like the idea of it being attached to a heatsink, and the benchies look promising.

Sooo how big a dent in the wallet would 4 of these in a RAID 5 make?

The only downside is: [...] be aware, because the WD Velociraptor is not a standard 3.5" SATA drive, its connectors are not in the same position as other drives. That makes the Velociraptor incompatible with virtually all external hard drive enclosures, DIY NAS boxes, etc.

That's pretty cool.... It looks like a 10,000RPM SCSI from IBM, cause they have little 2.5" ones too. I like the inclusion of the heatsink, but I think mounting one with some elastics or something would allow it to cool just as well, with it being nice and quiet
Finally a large enough drive from WD Raptor series I have been looking at new HDDs for a while and I will spare no expense for 2 of these in raid 0.
They're 300 bucks each, not bad I guess for a 2.5inch 300gig 10k rpm drive.
Didn't impress me all that much. Almost all tests the WD Caviar 640 and the Samsung F1 640 were very close in terms of performance. I don't think I'd be buying this drive.
